Quark Films was founded in 2006 by Anna Higgs and Gavin Humphries, who met on the Producing MA at the UK’s National Film and Television School. Since 2011, the company has been run by Gavin.
Quark’s passion is for telling stories through fiction, documentary or animation on film, television and digital platforms. At the heart of this passion are the talented filmmakers we work with – always striving to support them in their vision.
The company has worked with numerous major broadcasters and financiers, including the BBC, Channel 4, the British Film Institute, Film4, Google, Tate Modern, Universal, EMI, the Scottish Documentary Institute and Creative England.
In addition to our internationally successful feature documentaries, we have produced a catalogue of acclaimed short films selected for festivals such as Sundance, Telluride, London, Annecy and Clermont Ferrand, winning 34 awards. In 2012, THE CURSE won the Illy Best Short Film Prize in Directors’ Fortnight at the Cannes Film Festival.
Quark works proactively across development, production, education and consultancy to provide a sustainable base from which to create and collaborate on innovative work for all platforms.
